#MNR: STARK REALITY
“I reminisce on park jams, my man was shot for his sheep coat. Choco blunts’ll make me see him drop in my weed smoke.” Nas I wish that life imitated art, namely the end of Krush Groove. I wish that, despite all our differences, we could come together in the end like all those niggas did. I wish us brothers could squash all our beef like Blair Underwood and Rev Run, and that Blair-type niggas could have their Sheila E.-type ladies with no drama attached. I wish everyone could get their record deals in the end like The Fat Boys AND that every man gets the girl of his dreams like Prince Markie Dee. I wish that everyone could pay their vigs off in a timely fashion and avoid getting their asses punished by niggas like the nigga in the movie who was also in that one Friday the 13th and is now Dean’s gpa on The Wonder Years. I wish that every nigga could have all the subsidiary groupie bitches in the end like Kurtis Blow with no hating from the homies. I wish that there was a young visionary in the cut like 15-year-old LL, just waiting to take the game over and lead us to the promised land. Shit, I wish that The Fever was still on 167th & Jerome Avenue in #BXNYC and had old school concerts every Sunday night, rap AND NYC/Miami Freestyle (IYKYK). I wish that life could be all good by the time the closing credits roll... BUT THIS AIN’T KRUSH GROOVE. Imagine going to your local grocery store on a Saturday because you need to pick up a few items to complete tomorrow’s Sunday dinner. You’re a bit pissed that you didn’t pick everything up the other day, but hey – sometimes things slip your mind. No worries. It’s a nice sunny day. You take the trip to do what you have to do. You’re in the dairy aisle looking for the sharp cheddar for tomorrow’s mac and cheese when you hear shots fired. Fuck. This isn’t a simulation. Two days ago, an eighteen-year-old white boy whose name will not be mentioned in this blog entered a Tops Friendly Markets grocery store parking lot in Buffalo, NY, and immediately began to fire shots, killing several, including an armed security guard. Once inside he claimed the lives of more individuals. He then exited and surrendered to the police – and was unharmed. Of the twelve individuals who lost their lives, ten were Black. The shootings were said to have been racially motivated. The boy drove to a Black neighborhood over 200 miles away with hate on his mind and in his heart to assassinate innocent Black folks. It is reported that he was clothed in tactical gear and had the word “NIGGER” written on the barrel of his gun. He live streamed his rampage on Twitch, a haven for racists, Kyrie Irving and DJ Akademiks. The shooter has been charged with first-degree murder, to which he pleaded not guilty. He also stands a good chance of being charged federally with hate crimes. On the way to work, I listened to the Steve Harvey Morning Show speak on the tragedy. I empathize with their sorrow. I parted ways after that. It appalls me that Black folk still ask the same dumb ass question when it comes to acts of white supremacy. I swear I’m gonna smack the next Black who asks “how?” after an event like this. “How?” has the simplest of answers – because they choose to. He and other hate-filled devils draw inspiration from fellow devils like Tucker Carlson, who (amongst other things) peddle rhetoric on the replacement theory. For those unfamiliar, the replacement theory claims that liberals are actively trying to replace White Anglo-Saxon Protestants (WASPs) in America with People of Color (POCs) who will vote Democrat once they touch down. This monkey couldn’t have been any more stupid if he tried. He traveled that far to kill people who have been around since the birth of this nation. Last I checked, we didn’t scale 30-foot walls at the southern border. We were ushered in tenth class via slave ships. Before you get your thongs in a bunch, I’m not saying that it would have been cool if he killed a grocery store full of Mexicans or Koreans. It would have been equally as tragic. I’m saying that there are thousands of hate-filled white devils who are miseducated. Their hate is misguided and ridiculous. But hey, that’s to be expected when you have politicians who are actively white-washing contextual history in classrooms across the country. The second part of the “how?” applies to gun control. I HATE when Black people act all surprised after a fully loaded white supremacist goes out and commits acts of genocide. Are y’all, deaf, dumb and blind? America was built on guns. Think about it. 1A provides the rudimentary freedoms essential to a democracy: speech, religion, the press, assembly etc. IMMEDIATELY after 1A is 2A, which is the right to bear arms. Think about it: America loves its guns so much that they made sure that it was the first freedom on record after the most basic freedoms were included. Guns aren’t going anywhere. Instead of crying about guns being in the hands of devils, how about arming yourselves and your loved ones? Why do you continue to fight fire with marshmallows? I wasn’t around for their prime run, but I continue to miss the [Black] Panthers more and more every day. They believed in us being responsibly armed. They believed in us protecting ourselves and loved ones. I hate these northern libs who fight for more strict gun control. I’ll tell you this: if that white boy were in Texas, a Black or Brown man (or woman) would have drawn from the hip, fired off and ushered that devil to the gates of hell – legally. I’m in tri-state NY metro, where it’s 100 times easier to cop a dirty pistol than it is to purchase one legally. Law abiding citizens walk the streets in terror while criminals navigate through the streets strapped. I’d much rather be rightfully strapped than walking around defenseless. In NJ you have to jump through all kinds of hoops to be armed legally. In South Boston, VA, I can walk into Cole’s Gun Shop with a state-issued ID and money and walk out with a legal weapon in minutes. I need more Fred Hamptons and less Roland Martins. I’m tired of us being pussy. It’s time to get free. I wish it was all good. Like the end of Krush Groove. I really do. It isn’t. tymonday.com: @tymonday on Twitter & IG crewunb.com: @crewunB on Twitter & @theunbearablescrew on IG
